NHL Three Stars: Hansen’s hatty; King Henrik blanks Habs

No. 1 Star: Jannik Hansen, Vancouver Canucks

Hansen earned his first career hat trick Sunday night in Vancouver’s 4-1 win over Chicago. His second goal was a beaut:

No. 2 Star: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

The netminder stopped all 21 shots against in the Rangers 5-0 drubbing of Montreal. He even had time to get in some Rockette-esque dance moves when he was run into by Brandon Prust.

No. 3 Star: Alexander Steen, St. Louis Blues

The Blues power play went 2-for-5 against Winnipeg. Steen provided the assists on both power play goals, including this nifty stretch pass to a breaking away David Backes.

Honorable Mention: Daniel Sedin was honored in a pre-game ceremony for playing in 1,000 NHL games … Canucks need to make a decision on Bo Horvat before too long. In his 8th game, provided an assist on all 3 Hansen goals … Martin St. Louis picked Alexei Emelin’s pocket …

… The Ducks won in regulation for the first time since November 2nd … Rene Bourque made his debut for Anaheim and Joe Vitale is still trying to get his license plate number … Despite taking the loss, Ondrej Pavalec makes an incredible save on Jori Lehtera …

Did You Know? St. Louis’s Jay Bouwmeester’s ‘Iron Man’ streak ends at 737 straight games. Anaheim’s Andrew Cogliano is the new leader at 562.

Dishonorable Mention: Clayton Stoner was held out the Ducks lineup with ‘mumps-like symptom’. He has not been officially diagnosed with the illness … Anaheim held Arizona to 10 shots on goal through two periods. In the third period, they gave up 17 … Mike Smith should really, really, really consider not puck handling behind the net anymore …
