Ned Colletti: Dodgers Searching For Another Pitcher

Los Angeles Dodgers GM Ned Colletti is excited, but it’s a tempered excitement realizing that there is a lot more baseball to be played. Speaking to the Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show, Colletti revealed that now he’s got the new bats in the lineup, he’s looking for another pitcher to help sure-up the roster. That search became compounded with Chad Billingsley going on the 15-day disabled list with a sore elbow.

“We’re trying to do one more if we can, but it’s more precarious than ever down to the last few days,” Colletti said. “We’re still on the phone with a lot of clubs heading up to the 31st of August.”

Cole Hamels of the Philadelphia Phillies has been rumored to be on the trading block in the past few weeks. Before Dodger fans start salivating at the thought of adding the pitcher, Colletti told Patrick that earlier talks to acquire Hamels ‘went nowhere’.

The GM wouldn’t give up any information beyond acknowledging things are still churning LA. Colletti realizes that acquiring big-name talent isn’t going to be easy down the stretch; however, since coming to the Dodgers, he has been able – or just lucky – to find diamond-in-the-rough talent to carry the team in September.
